Pneumonia often starts like a simple cold, but the symptoms quickly become more serious. Watch out for:
- High fever or chills
- Persistent cough with phlegm
- Fast or difficult breathing
- Chest pain when breathing
- Weakness or confusion (especially in the elderly)
Seek medical consultation immediately if breathing becomes difficult, fever lasts beyond 48 hours, or the patient is elderly, pregnant, or has heart/lung problems. Early treatment saves lives.
